Our commitment to privacy

Pure Survey is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and other applicable data protection laws in South Africa.

Trust is at the heart of what we do. Employees share honest feedback because they trust their responses are protected. Organisations trust us with sensitive data. We take both responsibilities seriously.

Information we collect

From website visitors

When you visit our website, book a demo, or contact us, we may collect:

  • Name and contact details (email, phone)
  • Company name and role
  • Organisation size and survey interests
  • Communications you send us

From survey respondents

When employees complete surveys administered through Pure Survey:

  • Survey responses (ratings and open-ended comments)
  • Demographic information as defined by the client organisation
  • Technical data (browser type, device, for quality purposes)

Note: Survey responses are processed on behalf of our client organisations, who are the data controllers. We act as the data processor.

How we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and provide requested services
  • To administer surveys and deliver reports to client organisations
  • To improve our services and develop new features
  • To communicate with you where you have consented or where we have a legitimate interest
  • To comply with legal obligations

Survey anonymity

We take survey anonymity seriously. Individual responses are never shared in a way that could identify respondents. We enforce minimum response thresholds before showing demographic breakdowns, and we aggregate data carefully to protect confidentiality.

Our client agreements include strict provisions about how survey data can be used, and we actively advise clients on best practices for maintaining trust.

Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Regular security assessments
  • Staff training on data protection
  • Secure data centres with appropriate certifications

Your rights under POPIA

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you have the right to:

  • Access — Request a copy of your personal information
  • Correction — Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion — Request deletion of your personal information in certain circumstances
  • Object — Object to processing of your personal information
  • Withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Survey data retention periods are defined in our agreements with client organisations.
